WBL Workshop 12/19/16

On December 19,2016 my class join in with the Film class had  a WBL Workshop during our 2nd and 3rd periods. During this workshop we learned about our rights as a youth employed and we were taught about the procedures that should be taken while we start working at a job. Mrs. Lopez was the one to in charge to inform us all the things that we needed to know in other to know all of our rights when we start working. I learned a lot from this WBL workshop like for example what we should do if we ever in danger in our job or if we are in danger with our bosses or anyone in our work environment. Also that a teen can not work more that 3 hours on a school night or that would be consider illegal. Only 18 hours max on a school week and no more than 8 hours in non school days.

I also learned that we as teens, when we start working on a job can't do some things. That means that we are limited to do things in our work environment. For example like going on dangerous places like the roof and lifting heavy stuff like boxes and things that are double our weight or even drive. Another thing is that our work place needs to have an emergency procedure that they have to teach us in order if anything happens like a fire or something dangerous, you always need to know where are all the exits and windows and aid kits and fire extinguishers.

In my opinion i feel like this WBL Workshop taught me a lot of information that i didn't know and stuff that i didn't have any idea that my work place should do or teach me. As well the do and don'ts to do when i start working. And something interesting that i found about all this is that 1 teen worker dies every week because of an accident in work, which is hard to believe but is true. Which thanks to this workshop i am nor inform and better than ever and now know all the things that i need to know when i start working.
