WBL Reflection Journal

Image
On May 6, 2017 we had a WBL Workshop at the CCEC or also known as the school library. There we were tough by Mrs. Lopez about being "Money-wise". This workshop was to inform us about making money, saving it, spending it, budgeting it, investing it, and watching it grow doing everything wisely. This was to show us the importance of understating Personal Finance, as well as the importance of time. Time is finite and time waits for no one. We all have an expiration date and time actually has a cost. Also we learned the Financial Literacy is the ability to understand how money works, how to manage it, hot to earn it, and how to invest it. Then we learned the differences between Assets and Liability. You see assets are things that appreciate in value over time. however in the other hand liability are things that depreciate over time. Rich people accommodate assets while poor people accommodate liability. There were a lot of good things in this workshop that I though would co

Lab 13 Reflection

Image
Lab 13 was exactly the same like Lab 12 but in other words, the next step to a better and more improve Lab. In this Lab we did everything that was already done in Lab 12 but make the form that we did more functional. By this i mean learn and add more codes of JavaScript. Throughout the whole process i was kinda lost cause it was my first time doing a webpage and making a form with JavaScript but i manage. Now i know that i little more about it i got to complete my first form and make it work. So know when we put your information like your Name, Phone Number, and Address and click "okay" a little screen will pot out and tell you that it will contact you very soon and to have a "nice day ;)". Thanks to JavaScript i was able to do that.

York College STEM Trip Reflection

Image
On March 3, 2017 some of the Web Academy family attended to this event/trip. In this trip we were all join by some of the seniors and sophomores, so it was a variety of all 3 grades. We took the Cheese Bus to get to where we needed to go and i thought that was pretty cool since usually we just take the public transportation to get to were we need to go.  Throughout the whole bus ride i felt asleep. When we go there we were sited down in an auditorium. That's were we started to heard out about the stories of different speakers and gather more information about the army. Since this event was founded about the Army, basically we had to hear about and me as i person who literally have no interest in joining the army or being part of it, i was amaze to heard out everything that the speakers had to say. And i learned a lot and now know that army won't hold back anyone from having an education in college or doing what they want and following their dreams. As well i learned a lot

Lab 12 Reflection

Image
Lab 12 was the first lab in were my classmates and I were going to start using JavaScript. For the completion of this lab I basically used my knowledge of HTML and CSS to do the main basics of codes to create my webpage. Adding attributes of JavaScript of the first time was truly i pain but something I've been waiting to do for a long time. For this lab we had to create a From and buttons using <script> </script> and inside those tags included a whole bunch of other contents.              At first i had no problem in doing this lab since i have everything that i needed done. However the main struggle of all this was trying to make sure that my buttons worked. I spend most of my time looking at my code to make sure everything was alright and perfect. Lastly it took me like about the end of  period to notice that i forgot to add a semicolon and add the id name "demo".             Overall i had a good learning experience doing this type of lab

Lab 11 Reflection

Image
Lab 11 was also part of Project 3. However I believe this was one of the most important labs of them all. In this Lab we had to work with Adobe Photoshop CS6 to complete it and pretty much this lab was about creating a visualization for our upcoming project 3 homepage on how we wanted to look like. Pretty much like a wire-frame this one depicts the page layout or arrangement of the website’s content, including interface elements and navigational systems, and how they work together. To begin all with I started to put things i would put in my homepage. So in other words the type of fonts i would be working with and the color and that different typed of navigation bars that i wanted to included, as well as the buttons in my pages and many other details. Thanks to this Lab i had little trouble creating the homepage for my projects and gave me a lot of time to add more stuff. I believe that this type of Lab should be given because it helps the person a lot by gathering their thoughts a

Lab 10 Reflection

Image
During Respect for all Week we started to do a project, and that project was broken down into parts were Labs were done also. In this Lab we started to create Wire-frames for our project. A website wire-frame, also known as a page schematic or screen blueprint, is a visual guide that represents the skeletal framework of a website. Wire-frames are created for the purpose of arranging elements to best accomplish a particular purpose. The purpose is usually being informed by a business objective and a creative idea.  In my wire-frames i started by creating the layout of how i wanted each page to look like. I ended creating about 6 wire-frame. Throughout this Lab i ended up realizing that wire-frames really helps you a lot by organizing yourself and saving you a lot of time. Thanks to the wire-frames that i made i had very little problems and working on my Project for Respect 4 for all Week. And I really recommend other people doing this when working on big project or begging to create th

Facebook Hackathon

Image
On March 04, 2017,  there was a hackathon being hosted by Facebook, and of course everyone in the Web Academy had to assists and be there. Obviously like the last hackaton that i assisted too we had to be there at 8 in the morning till 8 in the night. In all honesty i wasn't looking forward in going but however i did. That morning i woke up late but as soon as i got up, i got ready and left. Once i got there everyone else was already there and i was so lost and din't know what to do. I ended up knowing in the little time that i was there that we had to be in groups of 2 or 3 and since i got there late everyone already was in there groups ( good way to feel like an outcast) However i manage to find someone and that was my pal William. Throughout the whole day I'll be working with that guy in whatever we had to do for ten hours straight.      The main purpose of this Hackaton was for every individual there to get prepare for the AP exam that we all will be taken in April.

My LGBT Project Reflection

Image
This week was about Respect for All, and that is something every known during February. During that week we had to chose a topic that relates to Respect For All Week. Now out of all the topics i chose to pick about the LGBT Community. The LGBT community stands for  lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender. In use since the 1990s, the term is an adaptation of the initialism LGB, which was used to replace the term gay in reference to the LGBT community beginning in the mid-to-late 1980s. Pretty much it's a loosely defined grouping of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender and LGBT-supportive people, organizations, and subcultures, united by a common culture and social movements. I decide to pick this topic for Respect for All week and create a website on it because i feel like everyone deserves to be respected. And what i mean by that is that no one should be judge by there sexual orientation because at the end of the day we are all humans and we all deserve the right to love whoever

CTE EXPO Reflection Journal

Image
A CTE Expo is when freshman also know as 9th graders come to an expedition help by the upper classmates. For example the sophomores, juniors, and seniors and they interact with them and check out the work they have done throughout the school year. The CTE Expo is really important because it a chance where the freshman get to know about each academy and decide which one is the best fit for them to apply to to get in. Pretty much it just a step for a big step that they would have to take whether they want or don't want to be in an academy for their future and benefit. On February 13, 2017 we all sophomores, juniors, and seniors held an expo for the freshman . In that Expo everyone got to interact with one another, no matter if you was a freshman or already in the in academy just different grades. We all showed everyone our work that we had done so far and one of our latest project. Over all it was pretty fun, a lot of us met new people and made friends and just hang out as a web f

What is Watson? And how Watson is aiding in achieving the benefits of big data?

Image
Watson  is a cognitive technology that can think like a human and it does a lot of things. You can Learn, Understand, Reason, and Interact with Watson. With Watson, you can analyze and interpret all of your data, including unstructured text, images, audio and video. Provide personalized recommendations by understanding a user's personality, tone, and emotion, create chat bots that can engage in dialog and much more. The way I think Watson is aiding in achieving the benefits of big data is by working with businesses, scientists, researchers, and governments to out think the biggest challenges. And in this way they collecting the biggest data to improve and make something great and better and it's going to impact society.

Data Chart Reflection

Image
On January 4 we learned how to transform data's into charts. We had analyze the data given to us in an google spreadsheet and then make 3 different visualization of charts to represent the data. and their are many different type of charts like a scatter chart, line chart, bar chart, etc. To complete the assignment giving to us we used studio.org and in there they showed us step by step how to properly represent data in charts in that right way.  So first off  what happened is that I needed to download a file which had data in google sheets and then  represent that data on charts.  In the process of doing all these it wasn't that hard since there was directions on what we had to do and it wasn't the hard to follow. The specific data that it was plotted in this charts was the average rating by age and gender in movie rating. It helped me discover there are more men and woman from 20 to 45 that gave a huge increase and decrease on movie ratings. Overall this assignment was ver

College Board

Image
The AP (Advanced Placement) Computer Science Principles Exam is an above average exam for students to take that is split up into two parts. The advanced placement college board is a class or course that students get tested on everything that they learned from the experience and they gather information and will also have the abilities to investigate the problem. The performance task consists of sample responds. this means that they will have you some type of questions and you will have to answer them in 50-100 words describing what you did or what you can gather from what you did. However each question is different so the written responses can vary with the amount of words it needs from 100 to 250 words per task. There is also a multiple choice part to this exam and is about 72 questions overall and the sad part about all this is that you only get 2 hours to finish this. In conclusion i don't know what type of question the expect at this AP Computer Science Principals Exam but i

WBL Workshop #4

Image
On that day I never made it to school. Something happened in the train station that made all trains be delay and take forever to get to there destination. I never made it to school and i was so upset, that day i was told that there was a WBL WORKSHOP! I was furious because i usually love to be i those WBL Worshops and get all the knowledge  that i can get. And as well i like the way how it prepares use to the real work and the procedures that we have to take. However i was told that this workshop was all about the proper things to do in a job interview, and how we can function with collaborators in a occupation. They told me the reasons why someone should or shouldn't get hire for a job, and apparently they are seven reasons not to. A several that i remember was because they either wasn't the right fit, they didn't pay attention, or were too arrogant. And the main one was they type of personality they had that could of affect there work environment. And lastly someone to

College Fair Reflection

Image
On December 16,2016 we had a college fair at the CCEC with the Film academy for our 2nd and 3rd periods. On that day we had to be presentable so in other words in business attire and we had to be mature and well educated. This college fair was organize by Mrs. Lopez so all the students, no matter if we were a sophomore, junior, or senior, you had to opportunity to look and get inform of colleges and programs and careers and learn a lot of the things they do and what they had to offer to you. That day it was pack with a lot of people from different places that took their time to talk to us about the things they do or what the colleges they work at had to offer. Some colleges that came to out scholl that I remember where SUNY Polytechnic institute, BMCC, Minority Science Engineering Improvement Program, and many more. As well people that work in hospitals and firefighters, and people from the Army. That day I was so excited because I learned a lot and i go to share this experience wit

WBL Workshop 12/19/16

Image
On December 19,2016 my class join in with the Film class had  a WBL Workshop during our 2nd and 3rd periods. During this workshop we learned about our rights as a youth employed and we were taught about the procedures that should be taken while we start working at a job. Mrs. Lopez was the one to in charge to inform us all the things that we needed to know in other to know all of our rights when we start working. I learned a lot from this WBL workshop like for example what we should do if we ever in danger in our job or if we are in danger with our bosses or anyone in our work environment. Also that a teen can not work more that 3 hours on a school night or that would be consider illegal. Only 18 hours max on a school week and no more than 8 hours in non school days.  I also learned that we as teens, when we start working on a job can't do some things. That means that we are limited to do things in our work environment. For example like going on dangerous places like the roof

Lab 8 Reflection Journal

Image
This lab was called "Lab 8 Favicon" and it was pretty much about creating our own Favicon. And for those that don't know what a Favicon is, well is   an icon associated with a URL that is variously displayed as in a browser's address bar or next to the site name in a bookmark list. For this lab we used our basic HTML knowledge to start with the basics of the website, and then later on we would work on creating our Favicon. My Favicon was pretty much done in a website called Code.org, this is were my creativity to do my Favicon was in. The Favicon was suppose to the 16x16 and as well it was suppose to be both an image and icon. For my Favicon i used the hexadecimal system so i could work with the colors that i wanted to to created it.  To complete this project first i had some complications because i was stuck on how i wanted my Favicon to look like. And so in other words i didn't have a clear vision and i kept on changing the look of Favicon a million of times.
